PHILADELPHIA, Pa., January 25, 2012 – Beneficial Bank and The Beneficial Foundation have selected the 10 school finalists for The Beneficial Foundation School Challenge. Five schools were selected in the Grades 4-8 category and fives schools were selected in the Grades 9-12 category. The school finalists, in alphabetical order per category, are:
o Gwynedd-Mercy Academy; Spring House, Pennsylvania
o Henry C. Beck Middle School; Cherry Hill, New Jersey
o Our Lady of Calvary; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
o Pope John Paul II Regional School; Willingboro, New Jersey
o Saint Francis de Sales; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
o Central High School; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
o Chester County Technical College High School; West Grove, Pennsylvania
o Highland Regional High School; Blackwood, New Jersey
o Swenson Arts and Technology High School; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
o Triton Regional High School; Runnemede, New Jersey

The 10 school finalists will now develop a creative video showcasing their Beneficial Foundation School Challenge idea, demonstrating why their school should be awarded grant funds. All videos will be posted on the Beneficial YouTube Channel on February 21. The public will be invited to vote for their favorite submission, ultimately resulting in determining the winners.
A first, second and third place winner will be named in each grade category, for a total of six winning projects. First place winners will receive a $5,000 grant, second place winners will be awarded a $1,000 grant and third place will receive $500 in grant funds. The final winners will be announced in March 2012.
