Beneficial Bank Launches Book Drive

Beneficial offices will collect new or gently used books for Philadelphia Reads & The Drenk Center

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., August 1, 2011 – Today, in its continuing mission to support education initiatives, Beneficial Bank will launch a book drive to benefit children in grades Pre-K – 8 in Pennsylvania and children and adults in Southern New Jersey. Throughout the month of August, all Beneficial offices will collect books to donate to Philadelphia Reads and The Drenk Center.

"As an Education Company, Beneficial Bank is committed to providing our customers and employees with opportunities to support local education initiatives," said Gerry Cuddy, Beneficial Bank President & CEO. "This back to school season is the perfect time to launch our book drive. Beneficial is pleased to partner with Philadelphia Reads and The Drenk Center, two organizations that are doing impactful work in our communities and helping to spread the joy of reading to people of all ages."

Beneficial customers and non-customers are encouraged to stop by any of Beneficial's 60 local offices to donate their new or gently used books. A complete list of Beneficial locations can be found at https://www.thebeneficial.com/locate.asp. All Beneficial employees will also be contributing to the book drive by donating books at their office locations and the Bank's headquarters in Center City Philadelphia.

All books collected at Beneficial's Pennsylvania locations will be donated to Philadelphia Reads, a non-profit organization that provides books to under-resourced Philadelphia teachers in order to enhance classroom libraries and reading corners. Books collected at the Bank's South Jersey offices will benefit The Drenk Center, a Burlington County-based non-profit organization that offers behavioral health and wellness services for children, adults and families.
