PHILADELPHIA, Pa., June 27, 2011 – Getting the information to make smarter financial decisions just got easier for Beneficial Bank customers. Today, the bank launches BenMobile, its new mobile banking service, putting account information in the hands of Beneficial customers via text messaging, mobile web and phone apps.
The service fulfills Beneficial's mission of helping customers do the right thing financially. BenMobile provides a way for customers to get the information they need when they need it most. Customers can check their balance while waiting in line in the store before they make a purchase. They can receive text or email alerts of low balances and make a transfer while riding on a train. They can see if a check has cleared while sitting in the airport.
"We're always looking for ways to give customers greater control over their finances and provide them with the power to make smart financial decisions," said Gerard P. Cuddy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Beneficial Bank. "BenMobile gives our customers access to their money from anywhere, at any time. It makes banking easier and simpler for our customers and adds flexibility to their busy lives."
By using BenMobile, customers can:
- Check account balances
- Transfer funds
- View transaction history
- Find nearby Beneficial locations and ATMs
- Automatically contact Customer Service
The service is offered at no charge by the bank. However, customers are encouraged to check with their mobile service provider about text messaging and data fees.
To commemorate the launch of BenMobile, Beneficial Bank is collecting used cell phones at each of its 60 locations that will be donated to two local nonprofit organizations. Phones collected in Pennsylvania will be donated to Women In Transition which provides empowerment counseling, referrals and advocacy to women in the Philadelphia region who are endangered by domestic violence and/or substance abuse. Phones collected in New Jersey will be donated to the Burlington County Senior 9-1-1 Cell Phone Program which provides senior citizens with free cell phones to help them feel secure and provide them with a resource to call 9-1-1- at any time. Cell phones are being collected at all Beneficial locations from July 5 – July 29.
Powered by mobile industry leader mFoundry, BenMobile uses multiple levels of security to keep customers' personal information safe. Each BenMobile account is verified with a social security number and account number upon enrollment, and only phones that have been designated by the customer can access account information. The mobile web and mobile apps automatically install a protective program that prevents information from being sent to unauthorized phones.
"The safety of our customers' personal information is always a priority, and we're taking every precaution to ensure this information remains private and safe," said Cuddy.
