Beneficial Contributes To Archdiocesan Housing Initiative
In an effort to help revitalize the Kensington neighborhood, Beneficial Savings Bank has invested $340,000 in the Archdiocesan Office for Community Development initiative to rehabilitate seventeen formerly vacant, blighted houses in the area for low-to-moderate income homeownership.
Marking the completion of the first home, Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia, recently led a special ceremony and rite of blessing to welcome the new homeowners, Antonio Moreno, Sr. and family.
"Beneficial has had a longstanding presence in this community and is proud to support the Archdiocese with its plans for Kensington revitalization," said Jim Connor, senior vice president and community development officer of Beneficial, which has maintained a Kensington office since 1924.
