Beneficial Teams Up To Combat Domestic Violence

Beneficial Savings Bank employees and customers teamed up to donate 500 teddy bears to Lutheran Settlement House as part of its annual Buddy Bear Campaign.

Each winter, Lutheran Settlement House, in conjunction with the Philadelphia Police Department, holds a Buddy Bear Campaign aimed to protect children who witness domestic violence.

Hundreds of teddy bears, outfitted with lavender ribbons carrying the domestic violence hotline number of Lutheran Settlement House, are turned over to the Philadelphia Police Department. Police officers then comfort children who witness domestic violence firsthand by presenting them a teddy bear when responding to a domestic violence situation.

The teddy bears for children, coupled with the hotline number for adults, help foster a supportive and holistic intervention method between domestic violence victims and police officers on the front lines of that intervention.
